At Freedom Valley School, we believe that every child learns at a different pace. Some students need more support to build strong basics, while others are ready for more challenging questions. To ensure that every child receives the right academic support and challenge, the school has introduced a Level-wise Examination & Evaluation System for students of Classes III to X.
The purpose of this system is not to label students but to help them learn better, gain confidence, and improve continuously. The First Periodic Test for Classes VI to XII has ended, and soon, the evaluation for Classes I to V is approaching. For classes 6 to 10, the circular regarding the same was sent on 29 June 2026.
1. What is the Level-wise Examination System?
For every subject, students will receive a question paper according to their current learning level.
There are three levels:

Important:
The level is subject-wise, not student-wise. A child may be in the Standard Level in Mathematics and the Moderate or Basic Level in English, depending on performance in each subject.
2. How is the Level Decided?
For the first examination of the academic year, the level will be decided based on the student's marks in the previous year's Final Examination for each subject.
After that, the level for every subject will be reviewed and revised after each examination based on the student's latest performance.
3. Same Learning for Everyone
Regardless of the examination level:
- All students will study the same syllabus.
- All students will receive the same classroom teaching.
- All students will complete the same classwork, homework, worksheets and practice material.
- All students will attend the same revision classes.
Only the examination question paper will differ according to the student's learning level.
4. How Students Move Between Levels
Students are not permanently placed in any level. Their level changes according to their performance after every examination.
A. Students in the Basic Level
- Below 50% → Continue in Basic Level
- 50% or above → Move to Moderate Level
B. Students in the Moderate Level
- 70% or above → Move to Standard Level
- 50% to 69% → Continue in Moderate Level
- Below 50% → Move to Basic Level
C. Students in the Standard Level
- 70% or above → Continue in Standard Level
- 50% to 69% → Move to Moderate Level
- Below 50% → Move to Basic Level
This process will continue after every examination so that students always receive a question paper appropriate to their current learning level.
5. Why Has This System Been Introduced?
This system has been designed to:
- Assess students according to their present learning ability.
- Reduce unnecessary examination stress for students who require additional academic support.
- Provide more challenging questions for advanced learners.
- Build confidence by allowing students to experience success at an appropriate level.
- Encourage continuous improvement rather than one-time performance.
- Help teachers identify subject-wise learning gaps and provide timely remedial support.
- Improve teaching strategies based on students' learning needs.
6. What is the School's Objective?
The aim of this system is learning, not labelling.
Marks are used only to decide the appropriate examination level, while the real objective is to improve every child's understanding, confidence and academic growth.
The school wants every student to gradually progress from one level to the next through regular learning and consistent effort.
7. Role of Parents
Parents play an important role in the success of this system.
We request parents to:
- Encourage regular study and daily revision.
- Monitor homework, notebooks and classwork.
- Ensure completion of assignments and practice worksheets.
- Check the prescribed syllabus regularly.
- Ensure regular attendance during revision classes and examinations.
- Motivate the child to improve gradually instead of comparing marks with others.
- Appreciate sincere effort and consistent progress.
8. Important Points to Remember
- Every child learns differently.
- A student's level may be different in different subjects.
- Levels are reviewed after every examination.
- Students can move to a higher level through better performance.
- Students may also move to a lower level if additional academic support is required.
- The system is flexible and designed to help every child succeed.

Dear Parents,
Every child is unique. Just as children begin walking, speaking and learning at different ages, they also learn academic concepts at different speeds. Comparing one child with another or focusing only on marks can often reduce confidence and increase unnecessary pressure.
Through this Level-wise Examination & Evaluation System, our sincere effort is to ensure that every child experiences success, develops confidence and steadily improves his or her learning ability.
We kindly request you not to pressurise your child to score a particular percentage or to reach the Standard Level immediately. Instead, encourage regular learning, disciplined study habits and a positive attitude towards improvement. Even little progress deserves appreciation. We do not mention ranks on the report cards or the percentage & we do never encourage comparison.
Please remember that an examination, a level or a percentage in school can never predict a child's future. True success comes from continuous learning, strong values, perseverance and the willingness to improve every day.
Whenever required, the school will provide additional academic support, remedial teaching and counselling to help students overcome their learning difficulties. We seek your wholehearted cooperation in motivating and encouraging your child throughout this journey.
